What happens when you miss a dose
This is the question every medication app has to answer, and the honest answer is shorter than people expect.
What the app does
- Asks again, once, after the delay you set — thirty minutes by default.
- Leaves the dose open on Today and in the widget, so it can still be recorded.
- Counts it as missed once the day is over without an answer.
- Keeps it in the history and in the report, separate from a dose you deliberately skipped.
What it will never do
It will not tell you to take the dose late, to double up, to skip the next one, or to do anything else about it. What to do about a missed dose depends on the medicine, on how late it is, and on you — and the leaflet in the box or your pharmacist is the right source, not an app.
This is a deliberate rule in the code, not an oversight: the app gives no dosing advice of any kind.
Finding the pattern
One missed dose is nothing. Six missed doses that are all the 22:00 one are a setting, not a failure of character. Open History, look at which doses go unanswered, and move the time to one that fits the day you actually have. Then turn on the second reminder if it is off, and consider an alarm-style reminder for the dose that matters most.
FAQ
- Can I record a dose after the day has ended?
- Yes — open that day in History and record it. The figure updates.
- Does the app warn me if I miss several in a row?
- No. It records, it does not judge or escalate. The figures in History are where a pattern shows.
- Should I take a missed dose when I remember?
- That depends entirely on the medicine. Check the leaflet or ask your pharmacist — the app does not answer this and should not.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
