What Pill Reminder does, and what it deliberately does not
Plenty of medication apps promise more than software should. This one draws the line in three places, on purpose, and it is worth knowing where before you rely on it.
What it does
- Reminds you of each dose at the time you set, with the medicine, the amount and the person named.
- Records what was taken, skipped or missed, with the time.
- Keeps a history and works out adherence, per medicine and overall.
- Produces a PDF of that history for a doctor or a pharmacist (PRO).
- Tells you when a medicine is running low, if you track its stock.
- Looks after several people's medicines from one iPhone (PRO).
What it does not do
- No dosing advice. It never tells you to take a double dose, to make up a missed one, or to change anything. Those are questions for your doctor or pharmacist.
- No interaction checking. It does not know what else you take, and a database that half-knows is worse than none.
- No diagnosis, no symptom tracking, no health scores.
- No cloud sync and no account. Apple's own guideline 5.1.3(ii) forbids putting personal health information in iCloud, and we agree with it — your medicines stay on your phone, and you move them with a backup file.
One thing worth repeating
Reminders never depend on a subscription. The reminder engine has no access to the PRO entitlement at all — it cannot read it. If a subscription lapses, every medicine keeps ringing; only adding family members, history older than 30 days and the PDF report lock.
FAQ
- Is it a medical device?
- No. It is a reminder and a record. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything, and it is not a substitute for advice from a health professional.
- Can it warn me about interactions between my medicines?
- No, and it will not pretend to. Ask your pharmacist — they have your full list and a database that is kept current.
- Does it work on an Apple Watch?
- There is no Watch app, but notifications from your iPhone appear on a paired Watch like any other, with the same Taken, Skip and Snooze buttons.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
