Hide medicine names on the Lock Screen
A reminder on a Lock Screen is readable by anyone who can see the phone: on a desk, in a meeting, on a table at home. The name of a medicine can say a great deal about you.
Turn it on
- Open Settings inside the app.
- Under Reminders, turn on Hide medicine names.
- Every pending reminder is rebuilt immediately — the ones already queued are rewritten, not just the new ones.
What changes
The reminder says it is time for your medicine, and names the person when you look after more than one. The medicine, the amount and the rest stay inside the app, behind your passcode and, if you want, behind Face ID.
The iOS setting next to it
iOS has its own version of this: Settings › Notifications › Show Previews, set to When Unlocked, hides the content of every notification on your Lock Screen until you look at the phone. The app's switch hides the names even when unlocked, which is the stronger setting — use whichever matches how your phone is seen by others.
FAQ
- Does it hide names in the widget too?
- No — the widget shows what is due. If your Home Screen is seen by others, use a Lock Screen widget that shows only the count, or none at all.
- Will I still know what to take?
- Open the reminder or the app and everything is there. The hiding is about what is visible without touching the phone.
- Does the app ever send my medicine names anywhere?
- No. They are never uploaded — there is no account and no server to upload them to.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
