Lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID
Your phone is already locked. The app lock is for the moments when it is not — handed over to show a photo, left on a desk, used by someone else in the house.
Turn it on
- Open Settings inside the app.
- Under Ease and privacy, turn on Lock with Face ID — or Touch ID, depending on your iPhone.
- Allow the app to use it when iOS asks.
- From then on, opening the app asks for your face or your fingerprint.
What it covers
The app itself. Reminders still arrive and can still be answered from the Lock Screen without unlocking anything — that is the point of them. If what the reminder says is the sensitive part, turn on Hide medicine names as well.
With Simple mode
The lock is what makes Simple mode stick: leaving Simple mode needs Face ID or Touch ID, so the phone can be handed to someone without the setup being changed.
If Face ID fails
iOS falls back to your device passcode, as it does everywhere else. There is no separate password to forget, and nothing to recover from us — we hold nothing.
FAQ
- Does the lock encrypt my medicines?
- The encryption is iOS's own, tied to your device passcode, and it protects the app's files whether or not the lock is on. The lock controls who can open the app on an unlocked phone.
- Does the widget show my medicines when the app is locked?
- Yes — widgets are outside the lock. Use a widget that shows only the count, or leave it off the Home Screen, if that matters.
- Does it cost anything?
- No, the app lock is free.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
