Medication reminders when you change time zone
Fly east and your 08:00 dose is suddenly at 14:00 local. Whether that matters depends entirely on the medicine, so the app asks you rather than guessing.
The two modes
- Follow local time — 08:00 stays 08:00 wherever the phone is. Right for most medicines: a vitamin, a blood-pressure tablet, anything taken with breakfast.
- Keep exact interval — the doses stay exactly as far apart as they are at home, so the clock time moves when you travel. For the contraceptive pill, insulin and anything else on a strict interval.
Set it for a medicine
- Open the medicine and find the time section.
- Choose Follow local time or Keep exact interval.
- For Keep exact interval, the app remembers the time zone you set it in — that is the home zone the interval is measured from.
- Save. Reminders are rebuilt at once, and again automatically when the phone changes time zone.
Daylight saving
When the clocks go forward, an hour does not exist — a dose set inside it moves to the next valid minute rather than being lost. When they go back, an hour happens twice, and the dose rings once, not twice.
Before a long flight
Open the app once after you land. Reminders already queued fire correctly on their own, but opening the app lets it plan the days ahead in the new zone.
FAQ
- Which mode should I use?
- Follow local time for almost everything. Keep exact interval only when the gap between doses is what matters medically — if you are not sure, ask your pharmacist about that particular medicine.
- Can different medicines use different modes?
- Yes. It is set per medicine, so your pill can keep its interval while your vitamin follows breakfast.
- Do I have to tell the app I am travelling?
- No. It reacts to the phone's own time zone change.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
