Add a medicine and set its doses
One medicine, one card. Everything about how it is taken lives in the editor, and changing anything there reschedules its reminders straight away.
Name and strength
Write the name as it appears on the box, and put the strength in its own field: “500 mg”, “5 ml”, “1 puff = 100 mcg”. The two are shown together — “Metformin 500 mg” — on Today, in reminders and in the report, so two strengths of the same medicine never get confused.
Form
The form decides the icon and the word used for a dose: tablets and capsules are counted, a liquid is in ml, an inhaler in puffs, an injection in units, a cream in applications. Tablets can also be counted in halves.
Schedule
- Every day — the usual case.
- Specific days — pick the weekdays, for a Monday-Wednesday-Friday medicine.
- Every few days — every second day, every third, counted from the start date.
- As needed — no reminder; you record a dose when you take one.
Times and amounts
Each time of day carries its own amount, so two in the morning and one at night is two times, not a note to yourself. A new medicine starts with one time at the next full hour, so its first dose is still ahead of you today.
The rest of the editor
- Food — any time, before food, with food or after food. Shown beside the dose; the app never withholds a reminder over it.
- Colour, shape and photo — so a pill can be told from the others in the box.
- Stock — how many you have, and how many days before running out you want to be told.
- Start and end date — an end date turns a medicine into a course that stops by itself.
- Notes — anything you want on the medicine's own page.
- Important medicine — switches that medicine to alarm-style reminders (PRO, iOS 26 and later).
FAQ
- How many medicines can I add?
- As many as you need. There is no limit in the free version, though iOS itself limits how many reminders can be queued at once — the app fills that queue nearest first.
- Can I change a medicine later?
- Yes. Open it from Medicines and edit anything; reminders are rebuilt the moment you save. Doses you already recorded stay as they were.
- What happens to a medicine I stop taking?
- Archive it from its own page. It leaves Today and stops reminding, but its history stays in the record and in reports.
Pill Reminder helps you remember your medicines and keep a record of them. It does not give medical advice, suggest doses or check interactions. If you are unsure about a medicine or a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Never miss a dose again
Pill Reminder reminds you at the right time, records the dose from the Lock Screen, looks after the whole family's medicines, and keeps a history you can hand to a doctor — all on your iPhone, with no account.
