The next-dose widget on your Home and Lock Screen
The fastest reminder is the one already on the screen you were looking at. The widget shows the next dose and takes one tap to record it.
Add it to the Home Screen
- Press and hold an empty part of the Home Screen until the icons wobble.
- Tap the + button at the top.
- Search for Pill Reminder and pick Next medicine.
- Swipe between the small and medium sizes and tap Add Widget.
- Tap Done.
Add it to the Lock Screen
- Press and hold the Lock Screen and tap Customise.
- Tap the Lock Screen, then the area under the clock.
- Pick Pill Reminder and the shape you want — a line of text, a circle with today's count, or a rectangle with the next dose.
- Tap Done.
What each size shows
- Small — the next dose, its time and a Taken button.
- Medium — how many of today's doses are done, plus the next dose with its medicines listed and a Taken button.
- Lock Screen rectangle — the time of the next dose and what it is.
- Lock Screen circle — today's doses taken out of the total, as a gauge.
- Lock Screen inline — one line above the clock with the next dose.
The Taken button
One tap records everything in that group and the widget moves to the next dose. The app does not open. Widgets refresh on iOS's own schedule, so what is on screen can be a few minutes old — a dose recorded elsewhere clears from the widget shortly after.
FAQ
- Does the widget show other people's doses?
- Yes — it shows what is due next for anyone you look after, with the person named.
- Why does the widget still show a dose I just recorded?
- iOS decides when a widget redraws. It catches up by itself; opening the app refreshes it at once.
- Can I put it in Control Centre?
- The widget is for the Home and Lock Screens. Reminders themselves carry the buttons everywhere else.
